Jessica Smith Tribute

Danny Smith described the loss of Jessica, his eldest daughter, as an earthquake in his life. From an early age, Jessica was active in Jubilee Campaign and Danny is now setting up charitable tributes in her memory in India, the Philippines and Zimbabwe.
"The shock of losing my beloved daughter Jessica, who died suddenly, aged just 22 years, has been like an earthquake in my heart and life. Jessica was close by my side as we took up many campaigns and from an early age she enjoyed being part of the Jubilee team."
George Verwer, the founder of Operation Mobilisation, a close family friend, contributed £1,000 as the first gift to start a Memorial Fund For Jess, and we are setting up charitable tributes in countries she had visited and loved, and places she planned to travel to. I intend to dedicate the next season of my life to establish this charitable tribute to Jessica’s memory.”Danny Smith

FOR JESS
Jessica’s family and friends have set up this charitable tribute in her memory to complete her unfulfilled dreams to help vulnerable children

INDIA
A portion of money raised will go towards a home for orphaned and abandoned children from Bombay’s sex industry and also to pay team salaries. This will be run by our partner, Bombay Teen Challenge, which has seen over 100 children rescued from Bombay’s notorious red light district. Jessica visited India, made friends with many girls at the Jubilee Homes, and had plans to return to work with the team.

PHILIPPINES
The Jessica Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund
Fr Shay Cullen made the first contribution of 3,000 euros to set this up, and will oversee this Fund to help with the education of trafficked, exploited and underprivileged children in the Philippines. He said, ‘It seems only yesterday that we were there together. That last meal together is frozen in time for me. This is a beautiful way to remember Jessie, something that will live on and on... giving new life to the impoverished is best done this way as whole lives, families and generations are best influenced through education, especially for young girls.’

ZIMBABWE
Jessica’s House
This is a simple but effective response to the impact of the AIDS crisis crippling Zimbabwe today. More than just a building, we believe Jessica’s House will be a catalyst to bring real and lasting change for AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe. Jessica’s House is led by Jess’s friend, Bernadette Mazengera, working in close cooperation with churches and local authorities in Kadoma.
Jessica loved Zimbabwe and had dreams of returning to help children in need. Write to us for more information on our plans for Jessica’s House.
