Do Something Amazing

We want to ask you to Do Something Amazing this Christmas – buy a brick! >>>

This very simple act will help to change the life of Allan, the “miracle child” who survived a ritual sacrifice by a witch doctor in Uganda who tried to murder him.

Allan Ssembatya

Allan captured the hearts of television viewers after the BBC broadcast his story as part of the report on our campaign against child sacrifice in Uganda. The response to the TV News has been fantastic – people from 72 countries around the world signed our online petition calling for a new law to protect children from this terrible evil.

But the new law is too late for Allan – that is why we are turning to you for help.

Allan sustained horrific injuries and was in a coma for a month. His father sold their family house to pay for his medical expenses and left his job so that he could care for his son. The family were forced to move to the slums and his father took a job as a labourer to pay for Allan’s medical treatment, and for food for his family.

Our partner started to build a house for the family away from the scene of the attack but the money ran out and they have had to stop. When we heard this, we promised that we would help. The builders are on stand-by and ready to go. All they are waiting for is for us to send the money so they can start work on the house.

We realise that money is tight for all of us and this is an ambitious plan, particularly in a recession, but we could achieve our target if each person reading this message bought a few bricks at just £1.00 each.

After we have paid for Allan’s house, any extra money will be used to start a Survivors Fund to help children like Allan and their families. Here are some specific immediate needs that we could meet if only we had the resources:

  • Help Allan’s father re-start his own business so that he can provide for his family, and not have to rely on hand-outs or charity. His father was a barber and it wouldn’t take much to get his small business up and running again.
  • Pay for medical expenses and school costs for Allan and children at risk. It costs about £30.00 per month to pay for school fees and general health care.
  • Pay for specialists care for Allan and children like him; each visit to a therapist or specialist costs about £15.00. At the moment, all these costs are met by our partners at Kyampisi Childcare Ministries.

You will get many charity appeals this Christmas and we understand that it’s not possible to give to everyone, but we hope that you will consider our request. Allan and his family have suffered enough. His physical scars will stay with him always, but we can make life a little easier for him and his family.

We want to ask if you would consider helping us: Please buy as many bricks as you can afford at just £1.00 for each brick.

Be assured that if you decide to help, and buy a few bricks to help build Allan’s house in Uganda – you will be doing something really amazing this Christmas.

Thank you.
